CALF BY-PRODUCTS COMPANY This company has had more experience in handling the two-day-old calf business than any other concern operating in the Auckland Province; it has, moreover, its own representative (a New Zealander) on the London market. The calves purchased by this company/will be handled by the Auckland Farmers’ Freezing Company at their Horotiu Works. The company has been formed to pay to the far-

mer an equitable price -or bis calves in conformity with the prices to be realised on the world’s markets and to thoroughly investigate and keep in touch with any developments in the research for a profitable process of extraction of gclaLine from the calves. This Company was first in the field in the Auckland Province—on the 12th of May last it approached the New Zealand Co-operalivo Dairy Company in an endeavour to cooperate with that Company in handling its suppliers’ calves. After thorough investigation the Dairy Company gave the Calf By-Products Company its cordial support on the understanding that it will provide service throughout the Dairy Company’s territory. The personnel and bona fidcs of the Calf ByProducts Company are well-known to the New Zealand Cooperative Dairy Company and no doubt that Company is well satisfied lhat eflicien; service will be given to the farming community. The Calf By-Products Company has no intention of using the subterfuge of trading on the word co-operation with the idea of unloading itself on to the farming community at a high price for goodwill etc..etc —our dairyfarmers have a very full kßCV.'lorlgS of tb? price they have paid for such socalled “goodwill” in the past. Thcr Calf By-Products Company is prepared to take a legitimate risk on the world’s markets in developing this new industry, and, with its wider experience of the trade, should be able to pay to the farmers a higher price than its present competitor in the Waikato.
