WAIKATO FOOTBALL.
AN IMPORTANT MOVEMENT.
REORGANISATION OF CONTESTS. INVESTIGATIONS TO BE MADE. "It is the most important thing that has ever happened in Wiakato football and marks the turning point," said Mr A. Montgomery, the newly-elected president of Ihe Waikato Rugby Union, when the movement to promote a new system of competitions was brought forward at the annual meeting last night. On behalf of the Cambridge subUnion, Dr. \V. Milburn moved a resolution, "That a sub-committee be appointed for the purpose of investigating the possibilities of inaugurating a system of competition similar to that" operating in Taranaki for the season 1028."
The motion was carried, with an additional recommendation by Mr A. Yardley, that inquiries be made into (tie organisation of school football on lines similar to the scheme in Taranaki.
I! was stated that by the abolition of the existing sub-union system of competition, belter and more interesting football would be produced, finer players developed, and inferior senior teams eliminated. The appointment of a committee to eo into the matter was deferred pending the result of the suggested conference Willi the Hamilton sub-union on Friday next.
