ALLEGED ASSAULT.

GIRL GIVEN WINE. (By Telegraph.,—-Press Association.) CIIRISTCIIURCIT, Tuesday. The Magistrate’s Court was cleared to-day when a charge was heard against Stanley Albert Miller, a hotel porter, aged 21, charged with rape and indecent assault. A doctor gave evidence that he had examined the girl and found her in a lethargic state; he could not say from what cause. The girl, who gave her age as 1(5 and 9 months, said that while sitting on a river bank with three boys one of them produced two bottles of wine, from which all drank. Accused said he had put something in the wine so she would not get drunk. Later witness felt giddy. More wine was procured, which they drank in a hotel right-of-way. Witness tried to walk and ran into a wall, and that was all she remembered until, she found someone speaking to her at the police station. The case is proceeding.
