FACING AT AUCKLAND.

SPRING MEETING CONCLUDED. FALL'. IN TOTALISATOR RECEIPTS. ••';•:/''A HEAVY TRACK. « [(Special to the Times). ■ '-■ AUCKLAND, 'Monday. . '' \ The Spring meeting of the Auckland Racing Club was concluded today. It had rained haevily over the /week-end and the track was, consequently, very heavy. Rain fell just prior to the start of to-day's programme but apart from a fall at another stage of the proceedings the conditions held fine. The threatening nature of the conditions naturally affected the attendance, which was not up to the usual for an off day. Although the fields were not as large as on the opening day, the racing was very interesting. There was a falling off in the totalisator returns for the day and for the meeting. The figures for the day were -£39,203, against £46,961 for the second day of last season's Spring meeting, a decrease of £7.758. The figures for the, meeting were-£95,970 10s, against £105,206 for the two days of last season's Spring meeting, a decrease of £9235 10s., The fixture was again marked by good management and the work in the department controlled by the secretary (Mr W. S. Spence) and his staff deserves special mention, •"-■'' The Normanby Plate. The eight acceptors came but for the Normanby Plate, which was introduced by a steady rain, shower. The Catmint —Loloma gelding, Chamour, was made a goed favourite over the Te Aroha trained Antrim Boy, with Royal Mint, another of the Catmint stock, hailing from Taranaki, next in demand and Nucleus, Rahepoto, New Moon and Template in that order on the "raachine. . Antrim Boy showed the way into the hack stretch to Ohinemuri and Chamour hut the latter had charge crossing the top and showed the way into the straight to Antrim Boy, Royal Mint and'Ohinemuri. The Catmints showed their ability to handle the heavy going, Chamour finishing an easy winner, two and a half lengths in front of Royal Mint, who came with a sustained late run and was two lengths in front of Antrim Boy, who ran away under the whip in the run home. Rahepoto was fourth, followed by Ohinemuri, New Moon, Nucleus and •Template. The time (1.49) it took to run "the mile indicates the heavy nature of the track Over the Hurdles. Of the eight carded for the hurdles, Wedding March and Curcafofm were on the bracket, and the Cambridge pair were installed good favourites over Royal Form, Mia Bella, Peter Rosa, Flowing Bowl, Kawa and .Karamu. Royal Form soon got to the front and going over the hurdle in front of the stand-was closely attended by, Wedding March,'with Kawa, Cureaform, Mia Bella, Karamu and Flowing Bowl in thai order and Pelcr Rosa some way lo.st.' Royal Form and Wedding March were well clear crossing the top and after the penultimate fence, where Royal Form clearly outjumped Wedding March, the order following was Kawa, Mia Bella and Flowing Bowl. Royal Form came down al the last fence and Flowing Bowl also fell, at this point. The mishap to Royal Form left Weddnig March an easy winner, four lengths clear of the Frankton horse, Kawa, who was a similar distance in front of Mia Bella with Peter Rosa fourtn • and Karamu and Curcaform the others to finish. Master Doon Arrives. The nine acceptors carded came out for the Epsom Handicap. York Abbey and Kingflcld were die most thought of by. investors, with Dave, Nancy Lee, Merry Damon, Pavo, Master Doon, Day Guard and Tuki in that order on the machine. The Cambridge pair, York Abbey and Kingflcld, as well as Dave, were not well served by the start. Nancy Lee went out quickest from the rails with Pavo and Merry Damon following and the trio showed the way across the top and round to the straight at which point Kingflcld and York Abbey had improved their positions, but the effort was 100 great. Merry Damon looked to be going well in the run home but stopped more qjickly than was expected. Master Doon, Nancy Lee, Day Guard and Merry Damon were there at tho imish. Master Doon finished too well for anything else, the judge making his margin a length and a half from Nancy Lee, with Day Guard in third place, half a length further back with Merry Damon fourth and Tori: Abbey, Kingflcld, Dave, and Tukia following and Pavo last.
