SMALLPAGE SERUM. MEDICAL COMMITTEE’S REPORTS NO FURTHER TESTS. (Received August 12, 9.30 a.m.) MELBOURNE, August 12. In the Houso of Representatives Sir Neville Howse, the Federal Health Minister, tabled a report dealing with the tests of Dr. Smallpago’s serum. Final reports of the rviedlcai Committee’s Investigation Into the matter have been received only from Victoria and Queensland. The other States have not completed their Inquiries, but the Federal Government has decided to abandon all further tests, the scrum having proved a failure. The Victorian roport states that In no case has improvement resulted from the treatment. Neither the serum nor the extract has proved of any value in the treatment of the cases selected. The majority of the cases troated are worse and five of the 17 died. The committee had not found that the treatment was of any value in the cases selected. The Queensland committee found that further tests were not only unnecessary, but possibly Injurious to the patients.
