FARMERS' EXCURSIONS.
HAWERA EXPERIMENT. OTHEfI TRIPS CONTEMPLATED. (By Telegraph.—Special to Times.) WELLINGTON, Monday. The Railway Department introduced an innovation in connection witli tin/ Winter show at llr.wera. A train was run from L'ranklou Junction to ltawera solely for the henelil of those fanners .from South Auckland and Waikato who wished to visit the function at. Hawera. As one farmer put it: "It was a splendid idea, and we farmers think Ihe world of il. One feature of this excursion was thai ll.e Railway Department, in conjunction with a committee at llawera, undertook to L"nd accommodation for the visitors, many of whom were taken into private homes and entertained. During tiie journey diagrams were exhibited showing the running of the train at various stages, ami Ihe passengers were much impressed with the whole trip. H is anticipated that on tin- next, occasion a similar excursion is run the number of those taking advantage of it. will be increased on account of the success of this experiment. A similar excursion will bo arranged for to oilier Shows. During the slay of Ihe visitors at Hawera, the experimental (arms were visited, ami the work being carried on there was carefully studied.
