AUSTRALIAN ELEVEN.

MATCH WITH YORKSHIRE VISITORS MAKE 243 FOR THREE. THUNDERSTORM STOPS GAME. (Received June 9, 10.55 a.m.) LONDON. June 8. The attendance on the third day of the Yorkshire match at Bradford was small. 11, had rained overnight, and the wicket was greasy and required constant attention from the batsmen and a liberal supply of sawdust on the bowlers' run. Crawford, bowling slower than on the first day, showed an improvement on yesterday. He had Collins twice beaten with a break back. Gregory, when seven, was badly missed by Douglas at deep point off Oidroyd. Wadclington and Oidroyd were not difficult to play, and the score mounted by a succession of singles with a few bigger hits. When he was 73 Collins sent Douglas to leg, the ball going through Oldroyd's hands. Immediately afterward he declared the innings closed. Collins' knock included nine 4's. The Australian skipper tiad given a display of excellent timing. Yorkshire's Second Effort. Gregory and Richardson opened the attack in Yorkshire's second strike, which was opened by Leyland and Mitchell. Before the latter opened his score he was badly missed by Ryder at first slip off Gregory—an easy straight catch to bands. The batsmen then dug themselves in, and took no risks.

Richardson opened with six successive maidens, and the first nine overs produced only six singles off Gregory and two byes.

When the total was 19 rain, which had threatened all the morning, compelled a halt, and only three more overs were played before lunch, and during (tic interval a thunderstorm arrived, and the match was abandoned.
