ALLEGED THEFT.

CHARGE AGAINST RIDER. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) CimiSTfiHimClJ, Tuesday. In the Police Court to-day, M. C. McDonald, steeplechase rider, and William McKay, stable hand, of Woodvillc, were charged with Hie theft of f. 17 from the person of Thomas Henderson on May 27. Henderson staled that he was approached by a stranger and they subsequently went to a hotel, where he was introduced to two other men. After a conversation the man he first met said: "You'll be all right for the racing game. Let me feel your weight." The man lifted witness up and tipped him to one side, lie did not remember feeling anything about his pockets, nut when he went away soon after his wallet was missing, lie had then reported the matter to the police. Accused pleaded, not guilty, reserved their defence and were committed for trial.
