LITTLE GIRL THE VICTIM. ■ FLOGGING ORDERED (Ey Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Saturday. William Rannerman Rogers, married, aged 25, who pleaded guilty to indecent assault on a young girl appeared before Mr Justice Reed l'or sentence. Evidence was called to refute prisoner's statement that lie was subject to fits. Tile judge remarked that in 1019 prisoner assaulted a little girl .'lllll got three years' reformative detention. There were a number of minor offences on the list. This was one of the worst cases lie bad known of the kind. Tiie victim of his bestial lust was a little girl aged six and she is "now in hospital suffering from venereal disease communicated by prisoner. The crime was*" deliberate. He could not think of anything more brutal than accused’s treatment of the child throughout. He left, her on the sand hills at l.yall Ray lliough it was cold and raining. A sentence was imposed of five years’ hard labour, followed by three years' reformative treatment. One Hogging of ten strokes was ordered.
