NATIONAL DANCING.

AN EXCELLENT COMPETITION. SOME SPLENDID DISPLAYS. There were some excellent exhibitions of national dancing in the competitions held in (he main hall at the Show yesterday afternoon. The entries were good and the work throughout was of a very high order, the appreciation of the audience being marked by the great applause which followed the close of each performance. The .iudge was Miss Gladys Denz, herself a clever exponent of the terpsichorean art and the holder of numerous championship medals. Miss Denz was very pleased with the nature of the work throughout, and remarked that in certain eases it was perfect. The Irish iig was a very close contest, llle dancing of the three placed girls being, according to Miss Denz, excellent. In Ihc Highland reel class, Miss McNaughton (Auckland) secured first place on her patting in the figure eight. Tim judge said tiie winner gave an exceedingly clever exhibition of reel dancing.
