LIME YOUR LAND.

Soils deficient in lime cannot, it is agreed, produce healthy pastures or healthy slock. Successful farmers have discovered that liming with To Kuiti carbonate together with super on other necessary manures is the sure road to prosperity. Olher plant food is made available and light dressings regularly applied give good results. Lime and phosphates supply two well-known deficiencies in soils. They promote Iho growth of lucerne, clover and all legumes, thus providing a supply or nitrogen free from the air. l.ime can he applied alone and super later or the two are sometimes mixed and sown together. Limestone country gives slock niuelu that cannot be raised on land which has a deficiency. The manufacture of carbonate was started about 20 years ago by the Wilson's at To Kuiti and the plant is the pioneer one in the North Island. Very large quantities of the lime, have been applied In the Waikalo and have played no small part in bringing the pastures to the. superb condition that has made the Waikato land famous in butler-fat production.
