HAMILTON DOG SHOW

KENNEL CLUB'S EXHIBIT. ALL-ROUND PRAISE FROM JUDGE. A SUCCESSFUL FIRST DAY. Never before has the Hamilton Kennel Club experienced such a successful first day as was the case yesterday, when the takings amounted to over £2O. The greater part of the day was occupied in judging, and as judges made their awards they were followed with interest by exhibitors and dog fanciers. Throughout the evening the exhibition was well-attended by a steady stream of visitors, and judging by the support and interest displayed, the success of the Hamilton Kennel Club is assured. The judge of the toys and bulldogs, Mr A. Pascoe, of Auckland, stated this morning that the entries in the toy classes were not as good as they might have been. There were, however, one or two entries of good quality. Referring to the bulldogs, he stated that in. this class there were some of the best breeds ever seen in the North Island. There were four Australian-bred animals, and the dog " Ambassador Wimbolt " was one of the best this side of the world. "There s no doubt that the bulldog is coming back to its own," concluded Mr Pascoe.

Praise for the quality of the canines exhibited was also forthcoming from Mr R. Sainsbury, of Auckland, who adjudicated on the sporting clogs and terriers. He said that the quality of fox terriers and cocker spaniels was splendid. In the English and Irish setter classes, some of the dogs were of the best, and were fit to compete anywhere. The imported and best dog in the Show " Borlasse Sawyer" stood out, and showed up well. The Show was well patronised again this morning. It will be continued this afternoon and evening. The exhibition is in Ward Street, just past the railway entrance. • Fox Terriers (smooth coated). Bitches. —Maiden: Mrs. H. J. Grccnslade 1. Puppy: S. J. Barton 1. Limit: D. Sutton 1, S. 11.
