A METHODIST APPEALSAFEGUARDING THE SABBATH. (Australian and N.Z. Press Assn.) BRISBANE, June 2. The General Conference of the Methodist Church of Australasia passed a resolution appealing to all members of the national and local governments to safeguard Sunday against all unnecessary and harmful encroachments upon its distinctive character, in particular against garden parties, opening of shops, organisation of sports, extending amount of Sunday labour, and generally to co-operate with Hie efforts of thoughtful and conscientious citizens in defence of institutions which arc unique and necessary for the spiritual and moral culture of mankind. The conference also decided to send fraternal greetings to the Methodist Church in New Zealand and other countries.
