ECHO OF A STRIKE.
SEAMEN FINED £5 EACH. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) AUCKLAND, Tuesday. Eight firemen, greasers and trimmers from I lie steamer Kaiwarra were charged in the Police Court that on January 13 they were parlies to a strike. They had objected to a man employed to fill a vacancy- caused by one of the crew being unable to sail. Defendants were each fined £5 and costs, Mr Cutten, S.M., saying there wore 100 many of these cases cropping up all over the country. He would not entertain a suggestion lo reduce the line.
