LABOUR AT GENEVA
REPRESENTATION ON THE LEAGUE, RESOLUTION PASSED BY BRANCH. POSITION OF NEW ZEALAND. The opinion that New Zealand should have direct representation on the Lab"iir Bureau of the League of Nations was expressed at a meeting of the Hamilton branch of the League of Nations I'nion last evening. Mr E. Wilson said il was highly desirable thai ,\ow Zealand should have a representative on the Labour bureau of the League. Nothing but good, could result by having such representation. Mr Wilson then moved (hat New Zealand should have representation at the annual conferences of the Labour bureau of the League of Nations. Mr W. I.eo Martin seconded and remarked that the attitude of the Minister was that New Zealand had nothing to learn hy being represented. If that was Ihc case, then, perhaps the Dominion could, teach something. However, Ihero was no doubt, that good results would fellow through New Zealand being represented.
, The president hMr H. Valdsr) pointed out that the matter, had been brought before the Government and Hie reply received had been that New Zealand was represented through the British delegate. He agreed that the Dominion should have direct representation. The president thought the resolution should be sent on to the Government through the central executive of the Union. Mr do la Mare said the Labour problem was an international one and that if we did not have a member representing New Zealand a great opportunity would be lost. Mr Wilson’s motion was carried and. it was decided to send a copy of it to the member for the district and the central executive.
