TROTTING AT PERTH.
THE MILE AND A-HAr TEST. GREAT BINGF.N DEFEATED. (United Press Association.! PERTH, March 14. Tho second test (one mile and a-half) for the Australasian Trotting Championship took place last night. The following were the results: — First Heat: Quartz Yardon, 1 ; Willoudcan, 2. Quartz Yardon won by seven yards. Time, 3m 24As. Second Heat: Yin Direct, 1; Taralre 2, Great Blngcn, 3. Yin Direct won by 10 yards. Time, 3m 20s. Final Heal: Tarairc, 1; Yin Direct, 2; Quartz Yardon, 3. In a great finish Tarairc won by half a yard. Time, 3m 21 Js. Great Bingen, having won his heat and the final in the first test, his defeat in the second test comes as a disappointment. However, this is to a lari- r e extent lessened by'the fact that Tarairc, the chief performer in Saturday's test, was bred in New Zealand. Taralre has two wins and two seconds lo his credit, and that makes his prospects look bright in the third test, \viii«h lakes place next Saturday night, over a two-mile course. Though bred in New Zealand, Tarairc is now owned by an Australian sportsman. TROTTING CHAMPIONSHIP. FINAL NEXT SATURDAY. PERTH, March 15. The points so far scored ill the Trotting Championship are Tarairc (Westralia) six; Great Bingeri (New Zealand), four; Vin Direct (Victoria), three. The final event will he run next Saturday.
