ANNIVERSARY DAY MATCHES. HAMILTON v. ROTORUA. Resuming after lunch yesterday, the Hamilton innings was soon brought to a conclusion, Skeat putting his leg in front to Godsalve, after eight runs had been added. The visitors found the wicket much slower than they were accustomed to, and only Codsalve and Burton, who ■put on 22 for the fifth wicket, gave any trouble, the innings closing for 40. Following on, Woodward and Boord gave them a good start by sending' up 47 for the first wicket, but this was not kept up, and the side were all out'for 75, Hamilton winning by an innings and 160 runs. JUNIOR GAME AT STEELE PARK. The game between Morrinsville and Hamilton East Juniors, played at Steele Park yesterday, resulted in a win for the visitors by 22 runs on the first innings. The following were the principal scorers:—-Morrinsville: Allison "35, A. .1. Aitken 22 not out," McPherson 20, Palmer 15. Bowling: Ryan two for 3',), Ronnie three for 12, Gall one for 18, Owen one for 23, Mercer none for 11, Steel two for 11. Hamilton East: Barlow 17, Verner 14, Steel 13, Mcßac 11, Gall S, Ryan 8. Bowling: Mctnlyre one for 25, McPherson eight for 33, Chase two Tor 2.4, Scott none for 4. AUCKLAND COMPETITIONS. AUCKLAND, Saturday. The first matches of the second round of the Auckland Cricket Association's senior championship .competition were played out yesterday. The match between Ponsonby and University, at Eden Park, was drawn. Ponsonby compiled 319 for eight wickets before declaring. University scored 218 for the loss of eight wickets. A feature of the game was N. G. Sneddon's score of 156 not out for Ponsonby. This is the highest score ef the present local season. North Shore dismissed Grafton for 77 runs at Dcvonport and declared their own first innings closed at 324 lor four wickets. Grafton's second venture was attended with better results, but they failed by 81 runs to avert a three-point defeat. For the Winners G. Frater scored 100 runs and Player made 68 not out. At his secend* stroke C. A. Sneddon'scored 82 lor Grafton.
