ACCIDENTS & FATALITIES.
EMPLOYEE'S EYES BURNT. A painful accident befel a motor truck driver named Arthur Julius Creedon, aged 37, employed by .tho New Zealand, Co-operative. Dairy Company at Waitoa the other day. He had removed the cork from a battery when some of the strong alkali it contained flew up into his eyes. Although the eyes are badly burnt, it is thought the sight will be saved.

James Saunders fell down the step 9 of the overhead bridge at 'Newmarket railway station. lie was removed to the hospital with a. fractured skull. WANGANUI, Thursday.
Two children, Cecily Lay, aged 10, and Elizabeth Alice McLean, aged 12, were drowned ili tragic circumstan=ces in the Wanganui River yesterday. The victims were bailing with a party of children. The elder girl got into difficulties and the younger one rushed in to.help her out. Both got into a strong current and were drown3d. The children had . been warned not tc go bathing EKETAHUNA, Thursday.
A double drowing tragedy occurred in the Makakalii River late this afternoon, the victims being two girls, Millie Dearl and Phyllis Waterreuß, both about 10 years of age. A birthday picnic for the latter girl was being held on the riverbank and a number were playing in the river, when Phyllis Waterreus got out of her depth. Ellen Duffy got the young"er sister ashore, and Esne Duffy made a great attempt to rescue Phyllis Waterreus, who, however, lost her grip before gaining the shore, Both girls,' Millie Doarl and Phyllis Waterreus, sank in a hole in the river, and their bodies were washed under a papa ledge. AUCKLAND, Friday.
Suffering from poisoning, Mrs Kate McEwin, wife of the licensee of the Hobson Hotel, was admitted to th<? Auckland Hospital shortly after six o'clock last night. She died a fev? hours later. DUNEDIN, Friday.
George Ramsay, who had his arm torn off in the engine room of the Marama, is a young man belonging to Port Chalmers, and a son of the late Captain Ramsay. Ramsay shipped, as a wiper on the Marama.
