SINGAPORE BASE.
STATEMENT IN COMMONS.
(Reuter.] LONDON, Nov. 18
A statement concerning the Singapore naval base was made to-day in the House of Commons by tiie First Lord of the Admiralty, Mr. W. G. Bridgcman.
lie said the total expenditure on tiie base to dale was £117,000. No definite sum had been offered by other parts of the Empire, except £250,000 from Ilongkong. This sum was being drawn upon as it was required. Tiie Straits Settlements had bought the land for £146,000.
