PAYING ITALY'S DEBT.
NATIONAL MOVEMENT. INAUGURATED BY GENOA FASCISTS A PATRIOTIC SCHEME. [Australian and N.Z. Cable Assn.) (Received November 19, 11.30 a.m.) „ ROME, November 18. The Genoa Coal Syndicate, comprising 30,000 members, who are all Fascists, have a patriotic scheme, under which 5,000.000 Italians would voluntarily subscribe a dollar each annually for five years to pay off the debt instalments agreed to by Washington. The Fascist organisations in other centres, including the Milan Fascist Directory, have warmly approved of the scheme, and convoked a provincial communal conference to make the movement national, Wealthy members and the hands in industrial concerns are looked to to contribute largely, also women from their savings, and workers by means of overtime and extra work. FRENCH NEGOTIATIONS. INVITATION TO ITALY. AGREEMENT WITH ROUMANIA. LONDON, Nov. 17. In the House of Commons the Chancellor of the Exchequer, Mr. Winston Churchill, said he had received a letter from M. Caillaux, exMinister for Finance in France. This intimated the acceptance of the principle of the arrangement for the discharge of the French debt to Britain in annuities of £12,500,000 extending over 02 years, subject to the settlement of outstanding important points. Discussion would be resumed shortly. Mr. Churchill continued: "The Italian Government has been invited to send representatives to Britain to negotiate the funding of Italy's war debt. Discussions will start at a very early date." It is announced that a settlement has been reached with Roumania, and it is hoped that an agreement will be reached on the war debts of Portugal, Greece, and Yugoslavia in the next few months.
