The Department of Agriculture has received the following cablegram dated the 11th inst., from the High Commissioner for New Zealand, London:— Butter. Market very quiet and absence of demand. Present quotations for New Zealand salted are 18Gs on account of reduction in Danish quotations, but seders inclined to be optimistic. Official quotations are:— New Zealand: Finest salted 186 s to 188 s per cwt. (Is 7Jd to is 8d per lb.), exceptional 190 s (Is unsalted 192 s to 194 s (Is S-kl), other qualities IGOs to 182 s (Is 5d to Is 7£d). Australian: Salted 180 s to 184 s per cwt. (Is "id to Is 7-}d per lb.J, exceptional 18Gs (Is 7Jd), other qualities 174 s to 17Gs (Is GU\ to Is GJd), unsalled 184 s io 188 s (is Tdi to Is 8d), exceptional 192 s (Is Sid"), other qualities 174 s to 182 s (Is GUI to Is 73d). Argentine 180 sto 184 s per cwt. (Is Bjd to ts 8} per lb.), exceptional ISGs (Is 83d), oilier qualities 170 s to 17Gs (Is Grid to Is G?d). Irish: Salted :lOGs io 188 s per cwt. (Is 7.fd to Is 8d per lb.). Siberian IGSs to 172 s per cwt. (Is Gd to Is GUI per lb.). Danish 190 sto 192 s per cwt. Is B;]d to Is Bid per lb.). Cheese Market quieter and less demand partly owing to unsettled weather. Present quotations are:—■ English: Finest farmers', firm nt HGs io J2os per cwt, (Is 0M to Is Id per lb.). Canadian: Coloured and white, 10 is to 106 s per cwt (lid to lljd per lb.). New Zealand: Coloured 105 s to IOGs per cwt (lid to lljd per lb.), exceptional 107 s (Jlrjd), white IOGs to 107 s (ltd to 11 .]d), exceptional 108 s (11 Ad). Australian: Coloured 102 s to 10is j)ov cwt. (lovd to ltd per lb.), while 10'is (I Id).
