For the Sabbath

THY PEOPLE LOOK TO THEE. Help, Lord, Thy feeble children To bear in life their part, Not murmuring nor fainting, But with a dauntless heart, To draw the sword in contest, All evil to withstand, Unwavering and hopeful, And with a skilful hand. Help, Lord, when tribulations Sweep o’er us, billows high; When feeling, 'mid the tempest, No creature refuge nigh; And whon, amid the darkness, We search about for aid, 0 lot us hear Thy whisper, “ 'Tis I, be not afraid." And yet- again, dear Saviour, When days of gladness shine, Help Thou io keep us humble And make us wliplly Thine; For where the stream runs smoothest The danger may be great, Help, then, to trust Thee only, And Thy directions wait. And when, the sword relinquished, And trouble all laid down; OUr eyqs grow dim With watching; Help, Lord, to see the prown Laid up for faithful soldiers Who bravely fought the foe; And then ih peace to wear it, Lord, let Thy servants go.
