NORTHERN UNION CUP. AUCKLAND v. SOUTH AUCKLAND. BIG GAME ON SATURDAY. The first New Zealand Northern Union Challenge Cup match of this season will take place at Steele Park, Hamilton, next Saturday, when a strong Auckland thirteen will meet the holders, South Auckland. Each season, both in Auckland and in Hamilton, the meeting of these teams "has provided a most spectacular exhibition of the League code.

Against the recent English Rugby League tourists both South Auokland and Auckland were defeated, after hard games, by a similar margin of points. This would tend to showthat both the latter teams will be evenly matched, consequently a fast, open game is anticipated, with the •ultimate result in doubt. Given a fine day a record attendance is looked forward to, and the thrills linked with the League game should be many. The South Auckland representative team is as follows: —Pull-back, G. Raynor (Huntly); three-quarters, S. Raynor (Huntly), J. Hemmingway (Hamilton), D. Johnstone (Ngaruawahia); five-eighths, B. Paki (capt.) (Huntly), F. Jaokson (Ngaruawahia); half-back, A. Cains (Hamilton); forwards, M. Allen (Ngaruawahia), A. Stephenson (Huntly), A. Hutt (Ngaruawahia) P. Mild (Huntly), J. Dufty (Hamilton), A. Payne (Hamilton). -Emergencies: Backs, G. Hall, J. McGerty; forwards, Trams, J. DuncanReferee—Mr G. S. Saunders. A curtain-raiser will be played at 1.30 p.m. between Ponsonby (Auokland) Juniors and Hamilton Junior representatives. Mr J. J.
