GRAMMAR BALL.

Those entrusted with the management of the Grammar Old Boys' ball on Tuesday evening have every reason to feel very proud of the huge success which was the result of I heir work. Seldom has the Alexandra Hall looked so brilliant. The decorations were on a lavish scale, where colour ran riot and lights bewildered the senses. They seemed to disseminate from a large centre shield of the school colours, worked out in its black and gold. From this thousands of fine streamers of rainbow hues festooned the upper portion of the Hall, and the sides were adorned with the Lion badges of the school. Countless fairy globes, softly shaded, made merry with butterflies, stars and balloons, which dodged here and there |, O avoid, if possible, the penetrating'rays cast upon them. The music, located in I lie gallery, was from the orchestra of Mr E. Scott, and it was never at fault, and often received a well merited round of applause. The supper tables, groaning with their goodly loads, were very bountiful with artistically arranged flowers, the work of Mrs A. English. The colour scheme was pink and autumn tints, and the blending was perfect. The genera! effect Of colour, silver and crystal, was so exquisite that if seemed desecration lo disturb Ihern to satisfy the cravings nf humanity. A refreshing clare! cup was served during the dances, indeed, nothing was lacking to make the evening a memorable one. Mrs C. Arm-
