HORSHAM DOWNS.
Our Cheese Factory. The executive of the Horsham Downs Cheese Factory recently held a public meeting' in the hall, Mr MacCorquindale chairman, to discuss the merits of puffing on a motor lorry to collect milk from various depots throughout the district. The object met with a fair amount of favour, but it was queried whether our roads would stand the strain of heavy traffic. Horsham Downs sheeces is held in very high esteem on whatever market it touches. I am pleased to report that in competition with all others in tile province it still holds a very creditable position, and I congratulate Mr Sawers and his staff on their continued success. On these points alone J think the directors are quite justified in opening up their district. The matter was loft with a committee to deal with, and the writer is unable to say how far they have progressed. Social Matters. The new hall and social committee for the coming season has entered into its work with its usual vim. Mr F. W. Baker was again elected secretary and treasurer of social matters, of which his work in the past has been much appreciated. The socials will ne run the same as last year, every other Wednesday evening. I understand the next function will be in the shape of a Leap Year dance. The Hall. During the next week or two the hall will be used for various purposes. The Farmers' Union invite the public to attend a meeting dealing with political and other matters concerning the farmer. Mr Sinclair, of the N.Z.D.A., will address the settlers on June 12 at 2 p.m. At a later date Mr Porler has promised .another lecture in aid of Hie hall funds. A talented parly from Hamilton will give a performance in aid of the hall at a date to be fixed Church services, which are "icid every Sunday, continue with good congregations. At a date which will be advertised. a cooking demonstration will be given with electricity early in the month. I feel sure if our roads will keep in good order our residents will find more entertainment this winter than ever before.
