WEMBLEY WORKERS
CONDITIONS AND PAYMENTS. (Australian and N.Z. Cable Assn.) LONDON, May 20. A joint committee of the Trade Union Congress and the Labour Party, after inquiring into labour conditions at the Empire Exhibition, reports thai the management, has not been mindful of the necessities of its employees, with the result that instead of" the Exhibition being an example to the world of good British conditions, overseas and foreign visitors find waitresses forced to depend on tips in order to bring up their wages (15s weekly) to a living standard. The committee recommended the establishment of a work committee for the consideration and removal of grievances.
