BRITISH MINERS.
THE RECENT DISPUTE. COMPROMISE RATIFIED. (Australian and N.Z. Cabie Assn.J]' ■ Received May 30. 12,30 pjn. LONDON, May 2D. A conference of miners' delegates decided fiy -473 to 311 to accept the compromise terms.
it was stated by the miners' repro-" scntative when the compromise was reached on May 15 that though the new agreement would mean several million pounds a year extra in miners* wages there would be difficulty in persuading the men to accept it, as they were convinced that they were entitled to a living wage equal to that of 1914. A representative of the South Wales coalmine owners said the minimum wage agreed upon would add from Is 3d to Is 8d per ton to the cost of production, and he considered it probable that many of the cok lierics would be unable to carry on.
