- GIRL PLAYER DOES WELL.

In an interesting match in the Middlesex lawn tennis championships, Retty Nuttall, a schoolgirl aged 13, is meeting Mrs Mallory, the runner-up to Mme. Lenglen in the Wimbledon championship in 1922. Mrs Mallory took the first set easily, outpointing her child opponent and winning by 6—l. In the second set the girl displayed remarkable pluck, judgment and hard driving, and once led by o—s.0 —5. Mrs Mallory eventually won by B—6.8 —6.
