OHINEMURI IN FLOOD.
SETTLERS RESCUED BY LAUNCH. HOUSES SUBMERGED. On Tuesday evening, following a breach in stop banks on the Ohinemuri River, the. settlers in the low-lying part of the Netherton district were Hooded out. and at 8 o'clock in Hie evening were rescued by 'the Public Works launches. Yesterday the flood waters rose on the flats and covered to a depth of live feet a number of the houses of line settlers. Train communication between Tc Aroha and Paeroa was restored las! night, but slips and washouts on Ibc Pacroa-Waihi section still liolc.l up traffic between these two places. FLOODS IN BLENHEIM. By Telegraph. Press Association. BLENHEIM, Wednesday. II is reported thai the road at Woolman's Bend, leading lo the Upper Awaicve, has been washed away, the Upper Awatere, Weld's Hill and Medway settlers being thus completely isolated from the rest of Marlborough until the river falls sufficiently to enable, the road to be restored.
The mail coach is. reported to be held up at Molesworth. The Awatere'river at present is running a( the highest level attained since the disastrous floods in May las! year, a great deal of rain having fallen in the back country.
