ACCIDENTS & FATALITIES.

Cordon Esam. orchardist, of Hastings, aged 39, was killed in a motor accident on Saturday. Deceased
pulled up al the side of the road to adjust' fruit cases on the lorry, when a taxi drive; by George Elford knocked him down. Esam died soon after the doctor arrived. It is alleged tint the dazzling lights of a car approaching from the opposite direction prevented Elford from seeing anything on the road. Deceased leaves a widow and four children. WELLINGTON, Tuesday.
A motor car lost a tyre when rounding a sharp corner three miles from Martinborough, and the occupants, Messrs Griffin, Ileney and W. Goilerton, of Tinui, were pinned underneath until the mail car came along. Collerton was found to be dead, with his neck broken. Griffin was bruised and badly crushed. Ileney escaped injury. Deceased, who was thirtyeight years of age and unmarried, was a representative footballer. DUNEDIN, Tuesday. A child named Ewan Keitch Currie, who was admitted to the hospital on Friday evening, suffering from severe scalds, caused by upsetting a pot of boiling soup over himself, died yesterday morning. The child at the lime of the accident was playing on the floor in front of the range.
