Mr I. Black and his solicitor. Mr !'. VV. Hutchison, waited on lhe hoard with reference to the sewer line proposed to be laid through Mr Black's property. Mr Hutchison enumerated his client's objections, chiefly referring 1.0 the disadvantage of having a sewer line through a properly instead of on lhe boundary, and also on the grounds I hat extra expense would be incurred should buildings with or without basements be erected at any future time-. Mr Worley, the boast's engineer, was also present, and deal! with the objections for the information of the board. Mr Worley advised that all the objections be disallowed with the exception of one. Regarding the latter he recommended the board to adopt a certain course, subject lo the opinion of the board's solicitor being favourable. After a lengthy discussion this was finally agreed to. The board also dealt further with Mr Pohlen's objections to the sewer line through his property. It was ex-
plained by the hoard's engineer that the Tower road line proposed by Mr , Pohlen was quite impracticable. He recommended that an alternative route be submitted, as per plans. It was decided to adopt, this course. Sumo on Johnston's Property. The chairman reported that this had 1 been attended to. Continuous Telephone Service. The Fanners' Union wrote request- ; inc; the board's co-operation in obtain- ! ing same.—lf, was decided to support | the union in its efforts. Children's Picturo RSattnees. Assessor for Valuations. i In response lo a request from the Valuation Departmenl for the appointment of an assessor for the town disj fric-t, Mr .T. Price was nominated for lhe position. Telephone Cat! Box. The lelegraph engineer notified 11;" board that lhe department could not j install same unless the hoard agreed i lo make good any loss on Iho first I year's working. This was estimated at, £9 Ss ii\. —No action taken in the matter. Snspector of Works. 11. was decided lo derer the appointmenl of an inspector of works for tin 1 present.

General. —Arawa street: This road is now completed. *i yards oi' shingle having been put on [his last fortnight; in alt 242 yards of metal have been used mi this road: a portion requires sanding. Sewerage: Planks have been laid along swamp for 1J chains in Mr Pohlcn's paddock for a track along fence: fastenings have been placed on all gates along the line. A start has been made with the concreting of the septic lank; a pipe-line has been put into Die outi'ali and concreted all round the- pipes. A permit for a building in Tower road has been refused, the requirements of the board not having been complied with. The report was adopted.
