WAITETUNA-RAGLAN.

Carnival. At a meeting held by the Raglan Carnival Club it, was decided to ask the Gun Club to give an exhibition of shooting. It was also decided to add a model yacht, race to the programme. A concert and dance will be held on boxing night and on New Year's night, and a plain and fancy dress ball on the night of January 2. Five Hundred Evening. The committee of the Te Mata Hall field a five-hundred evening a short time back. Mrs W. McCrackcn and Miss P. Brcgmen tied for first place, which was finally won by .Miss Bregmen by one point. Mr Ranui won the men's prize. After supper Mr Nicholson presented Mr W. J. McCrackcn with a handsome rug. Mr McCrackcn having suitably responded, the rest of the evening was given over to dancing. Concert. The concert given by the Raglan Horticultural Society was held in the Town Hall before an appreciative audience. The following was the programme:—Quartette, "The Long Day Closes," Mrs Darby, Miss Keam, Mr J. M. Thompson and .Mr G. Dent: violin solo, Mrs 0. Wallis; song, "Tit for Tat," Mrs George; song, "I'm not as Young as I used to be," Mr E. 0. Wallis; vocal duet, "When Song is Sweet," Mrs Darby and Mr J. M. Thompson; song, "Mountain Lovers," Mr F. Crothall; humourous items, Messrs P. Jennings and E. 0. Wallis. An amusing- farce entitled "Mrs Pulley's Birthday" was happily played by Misses Searle and Keam and Messrs Bentlcy and Cameron. Mrs E. 0. Wallis and Mr Bcntley played the accompaniments.
