OBITUARY.
MR JOHN CLARKE.

AUCKLAND, Wednesday.
Another of Auckland’s 1 early settlers, Mr John Clarke, died at his residence, Great South Road, Runciman, recently, in his 91st year. Mr Clarke had an eventful life, and had spent 68 years in New Zealand. Born in Norfolk, England, in 1833, he came to New Zealand in the ship Bank of England, at the age of 22. He left six sons and two daughters, 34 grandchildren, and eight great-grand- children.
MR E. DEMANT.
NELSON, Tuesday. The death occurred to-day of Mr Emanuel Demant, aged 70. Deceased was manager of Messrs Ross' and Glendiiting, and was well-known in commercial circles.
