SOUTHERN MAILS.
TEMPORARY HOLD-UP.
By Tcleprraph—Press Association, WELLINGTON, Wednesday,
Owing to the boisterous weather the ferry steamer Mararoa was unable to leave last night for Lyttelton. This is a remarkable occurrence, which has not occurred before in the memory of the oldest salt on the waterfront, and has caused a dislocation in the mail services as the Mararoa will not make the usual connection between Lyttelton and here to-night. Tho Ophir, which leaves Lyttelton at 2 p.ui., will take available mail matter for Wellington, but other southern mails will not reach Wellington until Friday.
