ELECTION OF DIRECTORS.

MB BLACKETT AT, RUKUHIA,

Mr T. C. Blackett, retiring Director

>ior the South-western Ward of the /■New Zealand ■Go-operative Dairy Com- ■ pany, addressed a meeting of suppliers at Rukuhia last night. Mr Pennikelt presided over a good attendance. Mr Blackett stated he had been a Director since the formation of the Dairy Association over twenty years ago, and during that time he had not missed more than six meetings of the Board. He spoke in high terms of the Directors with whom he had been associated. Dealing with finance,- Mr Blackett said he had always favoured. a conservative policy with regard to capital expenditure, but the increase in the Company's output had been phenomenal and had entailed a considerable amount of expenditure during the past few years. He said lie had not favoured the paying of interest on share capital in a co-operative company, as lie believed that all moneys should be paid to suppliers on a butter-fat basis, provided the Company made arrangements to buy back share capital from "dry" shareholders, lie said the great problem of the .dairyfarmer to-day was the finding of fresh markets for his produce,, and his policy was to see that the New Zealand Dairy Company standardised on

the highest quality of product, manufactured it as efficiently as possible and sold it in the best of the world's

markets. (Applause.) Air Steele referred to the valuable services rendered to the industry in the Waikato by Mr Blackett who, he said, was a Iried and proven man and had always been a consistent friend to the small dairyfarmer. A resolution of thanks and confidence in Mr Blackett was moved by, Mr Steele, seconded by Mr W. It. Roberts, and carried by acclamation.
