Tennis Socal.

A very enjoyable social was held in the Orini Hall in aid of the local tennis courts, but owing to the prevalent sickness the attendance was not so good as it would have been otherwise. Nevertheless those present spent a very enjoyable evening. Mr K. Young carried out the duties of M.C. in a very able manner. Excellent music was supplied by Miss Anderson and Mr Preest. Miss Marjory Mcjlntosh supplied extras. A very good supper was served by the Tennis Committee, and Glancing was again indulged in till about half-past one o'clock in the morning. ____—• Tennis Meeting. The annual meeting of the "Orinhope" Tennis Club was held at Mr MeConnell's residence on the 28th of last month. Mr A. Gordon, hon. secretary, read the balance-sheet for the year just ended, which showed that though the club had built a pavilion and done other improvements, they still hold a small credit balance. The following new committee were eflected: —President, Mr W. Gibson; secretary, Mrs Quick; committee, Mrs Gibson, Miss D. Gordon, Miss C. McConnell, Miss Anderson, Mrs Sutherland, Mr Sutherland, Mr N. McConnell, Jas. McConnell, Mr Catley, A. Gordon, Mr K. Rennie.

A vote of thanks to the retiring seecretary, Mr A. Gordon, for his untiring energy in the past year was carried by acclamation. It was arranged,, to hold a social in the Orini Hall on August 16, and by all accounts it promises to be above the ordinary.
