At Philadelphia Luis Firpo knocked out Charles Weinerl in the. second round of an eight-round bout, thereby preserving his reputation as a wildhilling slugger who is dangerous lo opponents ralher through'brute power than ring technique. Opening I lie second round Firpo rushed Weinerl lo the ropes, clinched and drove a savage rigid lo Hie jaw, felling Weinerl for Hie count of eight. Weinerl made Ihree grilly attempts In regain his fooling, only lo be sent downward by Firpo's Hail-like right. Firpo's victory has assured his meeting with Dempsey on September li, which probably would not have been fought had Firpo Inst to-night.
