THREATENED STRIKE,
GOVERNMENT CALLS CONFERENCE

Following conferences between President Coolidge, Hon. 11. C. Hoover (Secretary of Commerce), and the Coal Commission officials, the Federal Government has invited the coal miners and operators to meet in New York to-morrow lo endeavour to effect a new wage settlement, thus averting the threatened strike.
