HAMILTON TRAFFIC BRIDGE
REPAIRING THE SURFACE:.
The method of dealing with the surface of the Hamilton Traffic Bridge was referred to at the meeting of the Waikato County Council yesterday. Tlie Hamilton Borough Council advised that it was proposed to resurface the bridge during the summer, removing the blocks and replacing them with bituminous concrete. The estimate was £4OO. Tlie chairman said that if the blocks had been looked after they would have lasted for another 20 years.
Cr. Henry said that the water would get under them again and raise them
The chairman retorted that there were miles of blocked streets in Wellington, where they remained for years, giving efficient service. lie thought it a pity to sell the blocks, as suggested, as they could be utilised again and give further good service.
The clerk said that tlie Council's proportion of the cost of Ibis attention was 25 per cent.
