KNOCK-OUT COMPETITION.

FRANKTON BEATS UNITED

The finals of the senior and junior knock-out League competitions were played before a record attendance at Hinemoa Park on Saturday. In the Grigg Bulldog senior competition Frankton, after a keen game, the issue of which was in doubt right until the call of time, beat United by 14 points to 9, thus winning the trophy for the year. The junior final for the Innes Shield, played between Whitiora and Frankton was won by the first-named by 15 points to 2. For Whitiora, Prince, Campamagini and Andrews scored tries, all of which wore converted by Taylor. The only score notched by Frankton was through the agency of Andrews, who put the ball over from a free kick.

THE SENIOR GAME-

Play opened up at a fast pace, and for a short term kept at midfleld. Then .Jacques made a good run, passing lo Payne, who, in turn, transferred to Ncill, and a nice movement ended in the last-named diving over in the corner to draw first blood for United.
