NOMINATIONS THIS EVENING,

The Pakuranga Hunt will hold its annual race meeting at Ellorslie on Saturday August 25. Owners and trainers are reminded that nominations (1 sov each) will close by 5 o'clock this -evening with the secretary (Mr W. S. Spence' at 97 Shortland Street, Auckland.

RACING AT MARTON

The Marton Jockey Club and the Rangitikei Hunt Club will hold a combined meeting at the Marton Racecourse on Wednesday, Sept. 5 and Thursday, Sept. 6. The programme for the two days comprises sixteen events, and caters well for both flat and jumping horses. The Marton Handicap (open) of 270 soys is to be the chief distance event on the first day over one mile and a quarter, while the Railway Handicap of 210 sovs is the sprint item of six furlongs. Hack hurdles and hack steeplechase events also figure on the day's programme. The Rangitikei Hunt programme, the next day, comprises among other prominent events the Hunt Cup Steeplechase (about three miles); Heaton Park, open Handicap (seven furlongs) and Hunters' Hack Hurdles.

Nominations for all events will close with Mr Arthur Way (secretary), P.O. Box 3, Marton, on Friday, August 17, at 9 p.m. and acceptances are due by 9 pjn. on Tuesday, August 28.
