OTIRA TUNNEL LINE.

NEW TIMETABLE. TO OPERATE FROM AUGUST C. NO SPECIAL GOODS RATE. By Telegraph.—Press Association. CHRISTCHUiRCH, Tuesday. The now timetable for the railway between Canterbury and West Coast will come into operation on Monday, August G. It provides for an,express train from Christ'churoh and Groymoutli, with a connecting train to Hokitika on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays; connection with Ross on Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays, and with Rewanui on Saturdays.

There will be a saving of two hours oij minutes on the present time by making the journey from Chrislchupch to Greyniouth through the tunnel. It is expected the control of the tunnel section will be transferred by the Public Works Department to the Railway Department on Ihe opening day. The charges for goods will be the same as those charged for similar distances on any other section of the railway in the Dominion. There will be no special tunnel charges.
