LEAGUE FOOTBALL.

FINAL OF COMPETITION. FRANKTON WINS THE HONOURS. Owing to several of their players being indisposed Athletics were unable to get a team together for their game against United on Saturday, nad the match was therefore abandoned. This left spectators at Hinemoa Park on Saturday with only one game to engage their attention, this being the Franklon-City maLch, which decided the club championship for the season. Had Frankton been beaten United would have won the competition, but it was not to be, the team from the railway suburb scoring an easy victory by 28 points to nil, thus winning the competition. City did not have a full team, and the game proved uninteresting, with Frankton having matters all their own way throughout both spells. The game had been scarcely commenced when from a passing rush Dufty secured, and forcing his way over the line touched down to draw first blood for Frankton. No extras were added. Then followed in rapid succession tries by Otto, Lawson, Dent and Dufty again, but only one was converted, and by half-time the score stood at Frankton 17, City 0. Shortly after the resumption the Frankton backs kicked the ball from about half-way, and the City vanguard mulling the leather Pocock raced through to score a try, which was not converted. Shortly afterwards Dufty, from a scramble on the line, threaded his way through several men to score a well-deserved try. N. Vernall, by adding the extras, brought the score to 25 to nil. Then E. Vernall, alter a good forward movement, added another unconverted try" to Franklon's quota. The final bell then went with the scores: — Frankton ~.,...• 28 City « Mr Russell was referee.
