By Telegraph.—Press Association. DARGAVILLE, Saturday. Yesterday at the Babylon gumfleld, four Dalmatians, named Peter Bragkovich, Jack Matusich, V. Sokolich and J. Okomozich, were shifting camp. The last-named was carrying a loaded double-barrelled gun in the rear of the first-mentioned trio. He slipped and fell and both barrels of the gun discharged, Jack Matusich receiving the full charge in the head and back and Peter Bragkovich being slightlywounded. Both men were taken to the hospital, the former being in a serious condition. Sokolich fortunately was out of the line of Ore, and escaped injury. WAIHI, Saturday. boy named James Quintall, aged 8, son of Mr. Richard Quintall, got his foot caught between the spokes of his bicycle, and in trying to get it out cut the flesh to the bone. Blood poisoning set in and the iower part of tha, leg had to be amputated. NELSON, Saturday. Arthur Huitson Ekin, residing in Hampden Street, was killed by a trees which was being felled on a neighbour's property, falling on him. Deceased was a returned soldier, and was wounded in France, and when convalescent became an instructor at an agricultural school in England for the New Zealand soldiers. He leaves one child and a widow, the daughter of the ex-Mayor of Wells, in Somersetshire. BLENHEIM, Monday. A well-known farmer, named George Henry Johnstone, residing near Whittle's bend, was found shot on the verandah of his sister-in-law's house. Johnstone was removed to the hospital, whore he died later. The circumstances point to suicide. CHRISTCHURCH, Saturday. A fatal motor accident occurred at, the intersection of Warrington Street and Hills Road, St. Albans, at noon today, resulting in Samuel James Go.ok, a single man, aged 38, and a labourer by occupation, being killed, and David Cairns, of Peterborough Street, being injured about the head and body. Two motor cars, one being driven by. Mr J. T. Doherty, of Edgeware Road, and the other driven by Mr H. E. Wright, of the Canterbury Motor Company, came into violent collision. Cairns and Cook were passengers in' Mr Dohcrty's car, a five-seater Overland. Mr Wright was driving a twoseater Ford. ■Mr Cook, who was travelling in tho back of Mr Doherty's car, was killed instantly and the other occupants of both cars had miraculous escapes from death.

N. Langbein, a member of the University senior team, had several of h-is ribs fractured in the football match between University and Marists to-day. Ho was admitted to the Christchurch Hospital. DUNEDIN, Saturday. John McLeod, 56 years of age and a married man with a grown-up family, was knocked down and killed at Green Island crossing by the South, express on Saturday evening. The deceased took a horse to Burnsido and was returning to Green Island whenthe accident occurred.- It is believed that the deceased was watching a train approaching him and did not hear the express coming up behind him. At the formal inquiry opened this afternoon the medical evidence showed that death must have been instantaneous, owing to the severe injuries deceased received. PALMERSTON N., Sunday. Charles R. Hart, a youth employed by the Post and Telegraph Department, and residing with his parents at Tiritea, near Palmerston North, was fatally injured while cycling this evening. He collided with William, Thomas McCulloeh, who in company with Eric David Conquest, was riding in the opposite direction. A doctor was summoned, but found the deceased to have sustained a dislocated neck. It is stated that none of the cyclists had lights on their machines.
