GIRLS’ NEW COLLEGE.
A WELLINGTON NEED. DEPUTATION TO MINISTERS. By Telegraph.—Press Association. WELLINGTON, Thursday. A large deputation waited on Hon. W. F. Massey and Hon. C. J. Parr in connection with the building for the girls’ new college. Mr Massey said the request would be considered when the Public Works’ Estimates were being framed, in a few weeks’ time. Mr Parr said the plans for the building showed the total cost would be £BO,OOO. He did not agree that Wellington had been more neglected than other centres.
Mr Massey said that during three and a-half years the Government had built 636 schools. That was a fine record, but requirements had not yet been satisfied. He knew, that a girls’, high school was wanted, and? it should be provided as soon as possible.
