FOfrTKIQHTLY MEETING* IBs Worship the Mayor, Mr J. R. Paw, presided over a meettog of the Hamilton Borough. Council last night. There was a full attendance of members.

The NJZ. Meat Packing and Bacon Company were granted a renewal of a slaughterhouse license in respect to premises at Frankton Junction.

..The Medical Officer of Health advised the Council in regard to the Plumbers' Registration Act that any i plumber could do ordinary plumbing in' a paddock, but only plumbers were allowed to execute work in connection with water supplies and sanitary fittings. . Messrs Galloway and Judge, builders and .contractors, applied for permission to let advertising space on the hoarding erected on the footpath in front of the new Times Office building in Victoria Street. —The application was refused.

Messrs Watts and Armstrong asked •the Council to consent to conveyance to Messrs J. J. Craig, Ltd., of land in Part 6 of allotments 8 and 1, parish of Te Rapa.—Approved. Mr S. B. Sims submitted for the Council's approval plan of subdivision of part lot 21, Hamilton West, town belt, on behalf of the Domain Board.— Approved. Messrs Watts and Armstrong asked the Council's approval of the subdivision of lots 16 and 17 of 367, Te Rapa, for Mr James Troup.—Granted.

. Messrs Thomson and Fairer asked the. Council's approval of the subdivision of lot 328, Hamilton W est > for Dr.'"Joseph.—Received. '. The Borough Inspector submitted a list of properties in areas where sewers were available and which were not' connected.—Received. Messrs Thomson and Fairer asked the Council's approval of the subdivision of lots 331 and 332, Hamilton West, for Mr J. A. Young, M.P. — :Granted.

Raglan road: That negotiations be opened with the Waipa County with a view to getting them to put their portion of the road in order before asking the borough to contribute towards maintenance. Contract No. 44, stormwater drain Rosstrevor St.: That the tender of B. M. Finlay at £l5B 9s 9d be accepted. Borough engineer re stormwater drain Naylor St.: That tenders be called for piping of the drain immediately. Thomson and Farrer re Waters' and Lovegrove's stormwater drain: That they be advised that the drain must be laid with cement, Joints. \V. G. Wake and others re Radnor Street: That the matter of putting, this street into order be considered with the loan schedules. Railway Department re Rifle Range road deviation: That they be advised •that the Council will sign the agreement when the road has been formed and metalled to the satisfaction of the Council's engineer, and that it be suggested to the Department that the south corner of the triangle should be rounded off. H. E. Sharp re formation of new road Frankton West: That the matter be referred to the engineer for report to the next meeting of the committee. H. Gillies and borough engineer re stormwater Station road, Claudelands: That Mr Gillies be advised that the work will be carried out in due course as part of the loan scheme. M.- J.- Bleakley and borough engineer re open drain. Firth Street: That he be advised that the drain is being used as a tip for surplus spoil and that no water- now lies in it to constitute a nuisance. R. E.. Conradi and .borough engineer- re stormwater drain, Hammond Street: That the work suggested by the engineer be carried out at a cost not exceeding £l6. Subway River Road: The committee reports that it met an officer of the Railway Department (Mr Howell), when an indication was given that the Department will carry the grade back to O'Neill street on the northern side,-provided no claim is made by the adjoining property owners for compensation, and the com-mittee-recommends that-the Department's proposals, with the above alteration, be now approved and that the Council indemnify the Department against any claim which may arise as the result of the extension of- the grade.
