HOCKEY.
COMPETITION GAMES, The Waikato Hockey Association opened the season on Saturday last, when some fine hockey was played. Old Boys and United played a drawn game, 2 goals all, Turbott and Harris being the scorers. Messrs Staples and Eade refereed. Y.M.C.A. had an easy win from Frankton, who failed to turn out a full muster, the final score being 8-0. Mr L. Jackson refereed. Hamilton visited Ngahinepouri, and were defeated by/3 goals to nil. Mr Spiers refereed. Several junior teams indulged in practice games, as did the ladies. The grounds were in splendid condition, and play was fast. . ,
