SCHOONER ABANDONED.

CREW RESCUED BY CORINTHIC. By Telegraph —Press Association. WELLINGTON, Wednesday. At 2 o'clock in the afternoon of February 2 the Curinthic, which arrived here yesterday from Southampton, sighted a three-masted schooner in mid-Atlantic flying distress signals. The Corinthic altered her course, -and when close to the schooner saw a boat put off from the latter with the whole of the ship's crew and all their personal belongings, including everything of value whicli could be easily taken. When the crew got aboard the Cor'nthio, the captain of the sehooiier said ho was 'i7 days oat from Italy with a carso of salt, bound for Newfound, land. His ship, the Margaret Ryan, had experienced a succession of heavy gales, whicli had blown all the sails awav and she had started to leak. He was "about 2000 miles from the nearest land and did not think the schooner would keep afloat much longer. The Margaret Ryan was tired by the crew before putting off to the Corinthic and abandoned. The crew was subsequently landed at Panama.
