Frankton Sewerage.

The electrical engineer reported having inspected the position where the pumps were installed at the main sewer at Frankton, and arrangements could be made to supply electric power at this point. It would, however, be necessary to run a temporary line from the existing mains, a distance of about 1000 feet. There was second-hand cable in stock, and the engineer had suggested to the contractor to erect poles for this distance and the borough would run the cables. It was also necessary to have a motor for the work, and that would cost £54. If the contractor was not prepared to provide the motor it was suggested that the electrical department supply one and charge a rent of 10s per week. The motor could be used at the pumping station to drive an air-compressor for the gas-engine and turning the lathes when not on hire. This would mean the contractor paying the cost of running cable, hire of motor and current consumed. As it was felt that the matter was of great importance to the borough, it was decided to elect a special committee to go into the question of prices and make all necessary arrangements. Committee Reports.

The following reports were presented and the various recommendations were adopted:— Electrical Matters. The report of the electrical engineer and town clerk in regard to electric materials stated: —We have to report that Messrs A. and T.
