FALSE PRETENCES,

WHANGAREI, Tuesday
At the Whangarei Police Court last evening, W. Thompson appeared on a charge of having obtained jeweller} from" Mr W. C. Maurcr, of Whangarei. under false pretences. The accused had subsequently pawned the goods in Auckland. It was disclosed thai the accused was known under various aliases, and that he had been admitted to two years' probation at Dunedin, the terms of which he had broken. Dealing with the charge of false pretences only, the Magistrate sentenced Thompson to three months' hard labour.
HUSBAND GAINS DAMAGES.
CHRISTCHURCH, Tuesday
In an uncontested divorce suit, Charles William Mann versus Annie Mann and Peter Dyer, a decree nisi was granted, with £SOO damages against the 00-respundent.
